Applying a Radial Waves effect

You can use the Radial Waves effect to display waves radiating from a center point in the photo. You can change the center point in the photo and you can also control the appearance of the waves. You can save your options as a preset for use at another time.

To apply a Radial Waves effect:

  1. In Edit mode, in the Add group, click Special Effect.
  2. Click Radial Waves.
  3. On the Radial waves tab, set the options as described below.
  4. Do one of the following:
    • Click Done to accept your changes and close the pane.
    • Click Cancel to discard your changes and close the pane.

Radial waves options

Horizontal position

Specifies the center of the waves on the horizontal axis. A value of 500 places the waves in the middle of the image.

Vertical position

Specifies the center of the waves on the vertical axis. A value of 500 places the waves in the middle of the image.

Amplitude

Specifies the depth and height of each wave.

Wavelength

Specifies the amount of space between waves.

Light strength

Specifies the amount of light contrast between the top and bottom of each wave.

Background color

Specifies the background color of the filtered image. Select the Image check box to use the original image colors, or click the color picker to select a different color.

Wave direction

Specifies the direction of the waves. Select one, or both, of the following:

  • Wave horizontally: Makes the waves move towards the right and left sides of the image.
  • Wave vertically: Makes the waves move towards the top and bottom of the image.
